Mastercard partnered with Savant Degrees to reimagine the Next-Generation Point of Interaction (POI) across diverse retail ecosystems. Through co-creation workshops with leading regional brands—Primer Group, Lippo Malls Indonesia Retail Trust (LMIRT), Frasers Property, and Yuu Rewards—we designed seamless payment journeys that unify loyalty, rewards, and checkout.
Retail partners across Asia faced common hurdles, including disconnected loyalty programs that fragmented customer engagement, slow checkout processes that reduced shopper satisfaction, and limited ability to bridge offline-to-online (O2O) retail journeys. Mastercard also needed to demonstrate how its technology could deliver future-proof customer experiences that are adaptable across multiple brands and markets.
Savant Degrees applied its Working Backwards methodology to align Mastercard’s digital capabilities with each brand’s needs by developing persona-driven insights (such as millennial outdoor shoppers, family-focused mothers, lifestyle-driven homemakers, and young professionals), mapping end-to-end customer journeys to identify friction points and breakthrough opportunities, and prototyping POI concepts such as card-on-file tokenization, biometrics, voucher hubs, and express checkout. We also produced press-release-style narratives to align stakeholders on a shared vision of transformation.
Across partners, we translated Mastercard’s capabilities into practical retail innovations tailored to each ecosystem.
For Primer Group (Columbia and the R.O.X. Community), we introduced tokenized payments and touchscreen POI concepts to drive loyalty adoption and enable faster omnichannel checkouts.
For Lippo Malls (through the Styles app and a Voucher Hub concept), we designed a VIP rewards experience and a centralized voucher journey that reinforced Mastercard’s leadership within Indonesia’s mall economy.
For Frasers Property (FRx, Singapore), we enhanced premium mall experiences through biometric checkout concepts and card-on-file tokenization to increase convenience and reduce friction. For Yuu Rewards (Singapore), we piloted a Priority Pass-style concept featuring self-checkout and exclusive lanes, positioning Mastercard as an enabler of efficiency and financial empowerment for young professionals.
Together, these initiatives demonstrated Mastercard’s ability to apply a single innovation framework across markets and verticals, positioned Savant Degrees as a strategic partner translating global payment technology into contextual retail solutions, and created a foundation for regional scalability from Singapore to Indonesia and beyond.
